LESSON FROM NAAMAN HEALING
2King 5:5-25
Naaman was commander of the army of the king
of Aram. He was a great man in the sight of his master and highly regarded,
because through him the Lord had given victory to Aram. He
was a valiant soldier, but he had leprosy. A shameful embarrassing disease. But
a maid servant he had taken captive had his solution
If we exalt ourselves so highly, God will
humble us in a painful way. Naaman help came from a slave girl. When he went to
Israel, he thought the king would help him who sent him to his prophet who
never even bothered to come out to meet him but sent a servant. To make it
worse, the prophet sent him to river Jordan to wash there. This was the last humiliation
that Naaman had to take and he opted to go back were it not for his servant.
- Though God brought him down to the lowest level, he healed him due to his
obedience
-Let us not wait till God humbles us to the
lowest level, let us live a life of humbleness at all times to all people.
-Despite what we are going through, God
might be looking for our obedience so that he can bless us. Don’t give up due
to the pain, disappointments and humiliation. The blessing is just around the comer.
-God can send our help through anyone. He used
a foreign slave girl for the healing of naaman
When Elisha sent his servant with
instructions, this was Naaman’s response;-
11 But Naaman went away
angry and said, “I thought that he would surely come out to me and stand and
call on the name of the Lord his God, wave his hand over the
spot and cure me of my leprosy. 12 Are not Abana and Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus,
better than all the waters of Israel? Couldn’t I wash in them and be cleansed?”
So he turned and went off in a rage.
God’s blessings or answers to our prayers
are not always packaged the way we expect and sometimes we might be so full of
ourselves to accept God’s blessings when they come to us.
